Introducing…Alfred Contiga, Executive Chef at SOCIETY. From mac n’ cheese balls peppered with jalapeno, to lobster sheppard’s pie and fully-loaded kobe beef burgers topped with fried eggs-with Chef Alfie at the helm, it is certain that no one in SOCIETY will leave hungry.

Where did you grow up?

Toronto

What inspired you or how did you start in the hospitality business?

I was always cooking at home and watched the cooking network. I started my apprenticeship cooking at Outback Steakhouse

SOCIETY- Executive Chef
COAST Restaurant- Executive Sous Chef / Pastry Chef
George Restaurant (Toronto)- Pastry Chef
C5 Restaurant (Toronto)- Pastry Chef/ Consultant
Rain Restaurant (Toronto)- Cook/ Assistant Pastry Chef
Lindt Chocolate Competition- Placed 1st place and 3rd place

What’s your favorite part of the restaurant business?

Simply cooking for other people!

Do you have a favorite GRG location? Why?

I actually love all of them because each location has its own thing going on and each has a different vibe.

Other than the restaurant business, what jobs or careers have you held?

I used to run my own small clothing company!

If you weren’t in this business, what would you be doing?

I would still be working on my clothing company!

If you could live anywhere else in the world where would it be?

Anywhere that’s hot.

What band(s) are played most on your Ipod right now?

Jay-z, LMFAO, Lil Wayne and Drake.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

My grandparents.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you “grew up”?

I always wanted to be an athlete like a basketball player.
