Tom Dixon Lighting in BLACK+BLUE

October 27, 2011

Taking ‘mood lighting’ to a whole new level, BLACK+BLUE has a show stopping art piece suspending from its ceiling.

Famed BOX Interiors, who have also worked on other Glowbal Collection restaurants interiors such as glowbal grill steaks & satay, SOCIETY and COAST, has been working in coordination with Vancouver’s Inform Interiors to create a custom light, or art, installation using the new Tom Dixon designed ‘etch’ metallic shades.

It is absolutely stunning.

Box Interiors used a 3D program called Sketchup to create the design. Conceptually, BOX wanted to create a visual effect to exploit the room’s dramatic double volume, anchored by the ground level bar. With the light suspended directly above the bar, the shade clusters appear as if they are floating—and are visible from virtually wherever you are in the restaurant.
